It is vital to have your valuable pieces of jewellery inspected and cleaned every year to keep them looking great and in top shape.
The Importance Of Jewellery Inspections
Daily wear can take a toll on your jewellery. Sometimes damage and compromises to your setting structure may not even be visible to the untrained eye. Jewellery that you don’t wear everyday may not need annual inspections, but for pieces such as wedding bands and engagement rings, diamond earrings, and necklaces and pendants that are worn frequently, yearly inspections, cleaning, and maintenance are recommended.
A typical maintenance appointment will include an inspection of your piece under magnification to detect worn, broken, or bent prongs and clasps, loose or damaged stones, and worn metals. Cleaning and polishing is also an important part of an inspection appointment, not just for appearance, but because dirt and debris can compromise or damage your jewellery.
I have over a decade of experience and am a certified jeweller with the Canadian Jewellers Association and the Gemological Institute Of America and fully qualified to complete jewellery inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs. This is a service I provide free of charge to my roster of clients. This service is completed in office with you present. And as a part of my personalized service I will remind you of your consistent cleaning and maintenance appointments to help you stay on top of the care and keeping of your valued pieces. Inspections FAQs
Bring it to a jeweller. Please do not use toothpaste, baking soda or other DIY methods! If any of your stones are loose you can easily lose them in an ultrasonic machine or down the drain. Improper cleaning can actually damage your fine jewellery pieces.
Please make an appointment to see me right away. We can tighten your stone or we might have to build up your claws. Your diamond is trying to cut its way out of your ring so it needs attention ASAP.
Your claws are either sharp and lifting or they are worn. We should have a look at your ring ASAP. This might be a quick fix or we might have to re-build your claws.
